Northbrook is an inland town rather than a lakefront one, and that is the first thing to know about it. It does not touch Lake Michigan, it has no bluff and no ravine lots, and it sits on the Milwaukee District North line into Union Station rather than the Union Pacific line the lakefront towns use. One caution worth knowing: a Northbrook mailing address is not proof of village water, because parts of unincorporated Northfield Township carry a 60062 address and are still on wells.
