Homes in Prospect Heights
Prospect Heights is a city of about sixteen thousand people over four and a quarter square miles, and it is not Mount Prospect, which sits next to it and is several times larger. The two are adjacent, they share part of a name and they are constantly confused. Prospect Heights has no traditional downtown at all: its center is a civic cluster rather than a shopping street, its Metra stop on the North Central Service opened in 1996, and Chicago Executive Airport on the Wheeling border is the landmark most people place it by.
The housing is unusual for our service area, and it is the fact that matters most here. More than half of all housing units in the city are in multi-unit buildings, and over a thousand of those sit in buildings of fifty units or more. Detached single-family houses are only about a third of the stock. Most of it is postwar: roughly three quarters went up between 1950 and 1989, which means ranches and split-levels on the detached side and condominium and townhouse communities such as Rob Roy Country Club Village on the attached side.
Two practical consequences follow. In an apartment or a condominium the questions that decide the visit are how the crew gets in, where they park, which elevator to use and what hours the building allows, and those belong in the request notes. And unlike the rest of the North Shore and the western suburbs, private wells are ordinary here: the city states plainly that properties outside its limited water system draw from a well on the property. Where that is so you get real mineral scale on shower glass, chrome and tile, which dissolves with the right product rather than yielding to harder scrubbing.
Enter 60070 and your rooms and the price is on the screen before you give us your name. If the home is in a building, put the entry, the parking and any service-elevator rules in the notes and we will plan the visit around them.
